Our department of Internal Medicine I offers a broad spectrum of patient care services, research and education. Head of the department is Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. K. L. Laugwitz. Our clinical, research and educational focusses are in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the heart, vessels and the lung.
If hospitalisation is necessary, you will receive a cost estimate for international patients. You can enquire about payment terms at the office for foreign patients – “Büro für ausländische Patienten” (BAP).
The hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar offers a special service for patients for foreign patients. Our office for foreign patients answers questions concerning treatment, costs estimate and payment in advance and final invoice.

Research in the Department of Internal Medicine I focuses the stem cell differentiation of myocardial cells, molecular intervention in cardiovascular diseases, genetic variants of rare diseases, biosignals, thrombocytes function, electrophysiology, angiological interventions and pulmonary diseases.
